While everybody else is busy watching the glamorous gowns sashaying down the red carpet at Cannes Film Festival, we've been watching for the men's style.  And we're proud to say that the gents did not disappoint!

So much so, in fact, that it seems women have been taking notes as well!  Women were appearing in their very own tuxes at and around the event.  Our sartorial elegance has definitely been noticed and approved if it graces the backs of fashionistas such as Emily Blunt, Cate Blanchett, Lea Seydoux and Aymeline Valade!

But back to the fashion forward men at Cannes!  It was noticeable that for evening wear, the bow tie still reigns supreme.  The classic elegance of this look was done to perfection by the ever-stylish Ryan Reynolds, who matched a white bow tie to his white shirt, for a barely-there, subtle grace.  The suave Channing Tatum went for a classic and traditional contrasting look of black and white, finished with an optic white pocket square, for maximum drama.  And a note about the charming younger Hemsworth brother, despite being one of the few men wearing an ordinary neck tie,  he pulled off his look with sophistication and class by pulling it together with clean lines and the aid of a shining tie slide.

The ever-present difficulty in the style stakes at Cannes, is that the festival is held somewhere magnificently warm and over day and night (yes, it's definitely a hard life for these celebs!).  Obviously though, they need cool and collected looks for day as well as the formal evening wear.  This is something useful for all of us stylish gents to observe coming into the summer, and especially helpful for summer wedding outfit inspiration.

Ryan Reynolds (once again) showed us how to use the trend for bare ankles and no socks to our advantage.  We really liked James McAvoy, who illustrated perfectly how to achieve a look for all weather conditions with layering.  The navy suit also looked wonderfully cool against the riviera backdrop.  Ryan Gosling rolled up his shirt sleeves for an effortless look that was unafraid to pair light blue with brown for a slightly more casual-chic look.

Which looks will you be emulating this spring/summer season?  We'd love to know who is the fashion winner in your eyes!  Let us know by leaving us a comment below, or catching us on FacebookTwitterGoogle+ or Pinterest.
