golden globes best dressed men

As both an entertainment award show and key red-carpet date, with each year the Golden Globes grows in its publicity and prominence. A preview of Oscar results night and worthy prize of its own, this night recognizing the best output in Hollywood's TV & Film also brings out its biggest stars and their consistently great wardrobes. The essential tux met some strong competition in this year's ceremony, and that's whom we're looking at with this list of the best dressed men at the 2015 Golden Globes.

The Oldest and Most Faithful: The Best Tuxedo?

At a black tie movie night one always expects a fair few dinner jackets to attend, and clearly it was the dominant outfit of choice at this year's ceremony. The staple menswear of any Hollywood gathering, there were some exceptional examples of formal dress. including a  Dolce & Gabbana piece by Channing Tatum, a Dior tux on Adam Levine and an eye-catching,  perfectly-fitted black Gucci suit worn by Best actor winner Eddie Redmayne. Our personal suit of choice however goes to the navy blue Ralph Lauren ensemble worn by Matt Bomer, who along with winning the award for 'Best Performance in a Best Supporting Performance in a Series, Miniseries, or Television Film' for The Breaking Heart gets a thumbs up from us for a dress sense that stands out as much as it blends in.

Odd But Not Out: Our Most Eccentric Dresser?

Boldness gets a big bonus from us at Men's Gift Company. It's fair play to play it safe with a sharp Armani ensemble if you're the likes of George Clooney (who received the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award), but when you're one of the industries more eccentric types there's an expectation to show it. Just as we feel too few are talking about his incredible performance as Martin Luther King Jr. in Selma, there's not been enough said about David Oyelowo's sparkly blue tux, nor Jared Leto's little rose-topped cream suit. Our choice of best offbeat fancy wear goes to one of our favourite Thespian Scots Alan Cumming, thanks to a near completely cameo coloured suit, bar his colourful choice of sneakers.

An inseparable Dress Sense: Best Dressed Couple?

Lastly we have to give a mention to those men who's striking, sharp image would not be possible without their better half. As usual there was a superb selection of couple photos, including bow-tied Benedict Cumberbatch with his newly pregnant fiancée Sophie Hunter, or the dapper star of the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey Jamie Dornam and wife Amelia Warner, but our award for the best couple on-show was Interstellar's Matthew McConaughey, who's raisin-hued tuxedo jacket mixed perfectly with his wife Camila Alves' lovely pink/white dress.
