It is that time of year once again where our social calendar starts to get booked up. The festive season is a time of merriment for sure!
Although the Christmas parties may have been booked and organised for a while, now is the time that we really start to think about the practicalities such as transport, meal choices and, of course, what to wear.
It is an unfortunate truth that women have a good deal more choice than men when it comes to dressing up. So what can you do to make your outfit a little more special?
Add Some Sparkle
Christmas is all about sparkle. There is glitter on everything at this time of year, and there is no doubt that a bit of shimmer here and there can transform an outfit from run of the mill to something sensational. We aren’t talking about rolling yourself in glitter glue here! Simple additions to your outfit like a lapel pin can make all the difference. Or if you are unsure about that, why not try adding some well placed piece of jewellery, a bejewelled pendant proudly displayed with an open shirt can inject some character if your shindig is casual enough to allow it. If you are attending a smart do, up the glitz and glamour of your outfit with a tie slide and cufflinks.
It is winter and this allows us some extra accessories to play with. Add a classic scarf to your look, not just to keep the cold at bay but also for some colour and movement. Pocket squares have been all over the celebrities on the red carpet this year, and look equally fabulous with a casual blazer and jeans or with a smart, tailored suit. You can even adapt your folding technique to get different looks, and our handkerchiefs feature designs that can be displayed or hidden. Add some stylish gloves to keep your look wrapped up and seasonal.
If you have had to travel to your Christmas party, then you don’t want to have a stylish and fashionable look up your sleeve for the main event, but look totally dishevelled with all your belongings in a plastic bag at the hotel breakfast buffet in the morning. Style is all encompassing, and must be thought about at all times. Carry a suit in a suit bag to keep it protected and wrinkle free, and pop your luggage in a classic leather bag, and always keep your toiletries in a washbag to keep them separate from your main luggage in case of leaks.
